Meetings

Dinner meetings are every Thursday at the Aviat Club Port Moresby, 6.30 pm for a 7 pm start. Our meeting’s are not for the feint-hearted as the Sergeant’s session can be quite inspiring at times. Food at the Aviat is high quality and well priced. And the bar is always well-stocked. You will be welcomed, so come along and enjoy the fellowship.

Fundraising

Our main fundraising event each year is the Melbourne Cup event, which is the first Tuesday of each November. We hold other events, such as Gala nights at the Moresby Arts Theatre or Paradise Cinema and occasional evenings of live entertainment. We also have a number of kind sponsors who assist the club in various ways.

Donation of Medical Supplies and Equipment

The islands of Panapompom and Panaeati are located in the Deboyne Lagoon of Misima Milne Bay Province. The Provincial capital of Milne Bay is Alotau which is 23 hours by boat from Alotau to Misima but an 18-hour journey if you were to travel and get off at Panapompom or Panaeati Islands. An airstrip in Bwagaoia the recent staging Township for the once vibrant Misima Mines still operates Dash 8 aircraft from PNG Air today coupled with the challenges of continuous closures due to safety issues of the runway that lack the maintenance and upkeep per safe standards of an airstrip.

School Desk Project

Urban Drift into Port Moresby together with a birth rate of over 3.5% has seen the population of Port Moresby increase by over 2% a year. The result of this has been that primary schools have 60 or more children in a class. Many classrooms have insufficient desks in them and in some all the children are sitting on the floor. All schools are expanding and all schools are short of desks.
